Bok Tower Gardens Engagement Session | Orlando Wedding Photographer

A Bok Tower Gardens Engagement Session was definitely on my venue bucket list, so when Skylar mentioned it for their engagement photos, I for sure did a little happy dance! When we turned on the road to enter the Gardens, I was blown away by how beautiful the grounds were, and we made sure to take advantage of all of the locations we possibly could. Skylar and James were a dream to work with-hiking around the gardens trying to act like it wasn’t 90 degrees outside, and I can’t wait for their upcoming Isleworth Country Club Wedding!

About Bok Tower Gardens

Bok Tower Gardens, a historic landscape garden, was designed to simply be beautiful. It was meant to be a peaceful and romantic setting where you can wander around picturesque gardens. There are dirt road walking trails, lush fields, pines, and seasonal flowers, making it the perfect spot for engagement photos.  Aside from the beautiful scenery, the Singing Tower is the main focal point of the Gardens, and it is pretty much mandatory that you take your picture in front of it when you go to visit!

Not only is it a great engagement session location, but Bok Tower Gardens is also a wedding venue! If you visit their information page, you will find that they have a pretty nice range of both ceremony and reception options. Using the Towers as your ceremony backdrop will give you a nice, light and romantic feel to your wedding pictures, where the garden setting will give you more of a natural, slightly moody look (depending on the time of day, of course).

About Skylar and James

One of my “things” as a photographer is that I really try to get to know my couples and their wedding as much as I possibly can throughout the process (to learn more about all of my “things”, visit my online magazine…I promise it’s fun!) , and while I have a variety of ways I get to learn about my couples, Skylar dropped a gem on me when she made their Wedding Website on The Knot and shared it on Facebook. While reading their website, I was again reminded of why I am so excited and honored to be the photographer for James and Skylar’s Wedding.

Our Motto is “Enjoy Every Moment”, and when I read their story, I saw how perfect of a fit they really are for us. Skylar met James when she was 14-he was friends with her brother. Fast Forward 10 years, and they are going on a cruise-as a couple-and James has with him a stunner of a ring that he is trying to keep safe! After worrying about this ring in his bag all afternoon, he locked it in the safe once they could check in to their cabin while Skylar was unpacking. He didn’t notice her go to the safe to lock up her jewelry bag, and when she opened it she thought someone had left their jewelry in the safe, and even opened it to see what was inside (and was shocked at how beautiful it was). She still had no idea the ring was meant for her. This wasn’t exactly the way James envisioned their engagement story, but he went with it and asked Skylar to marry her. She of course said yes…and then they immediately had to go to the mandatory muster drill. Skylar loves her engagement story. Even though it wasn’t the perfect sunset overlooking the ocean proposal that was in the original plans, they both chose to enjoy the moment that presented itself, and that is what makes them such a perfect JRP couple. I also love how Skylar gets is excited about the fun, extra details of a wedding-they had an “I do BBQ” where they did bridesmaid and groomsmen proposal gifts-it was super cute!! They are for sure enjoying this phase of their life, and I can’t wait to meet everyone and to capture their day-which I know will be a fun and beautiful day (and I’m dying to see Skylar’s Calvet Couture dress!)

About the Session

If you take a look at my Wedding portfolio, you’ll likely notice that I’m not too much of a “get together and look at me” type of photographer. I love posing that is naturally candid and authentic. I’m sure at the time they may not have felt like it was too natural, and I do give prompts and direction to get everyone started, but most times my couples will naturally fall into place and it results in a beautiful, natural session that really showcases their love story and this was 100% the case for James and Skylar! Once I got them started I never really had to continue with direction, they just naturally meshed together in a way that made for perfect pictures! I’m in love with their gallery, and wanted to share just a few of my favorites with you! Hope you enjoy! Once you finish up here, please take some time to look around-especially if you have an engagement in your near future!
