Caitlin and Chris have known each other since high school but their love story didn’t begin there. It began when Chris was on leave from the Army. Through long deployments, back and forth letters and phone calls, and a gorgeous son and daughter later, they are tying the knot 7 years (to the day!) since they started dating. Caitlin and Chris set out to have an intimate wedding with only their closest friends and family. Luckily for them, they are friends with two photographers (Jamie Reinhart Photography & Sweetographer) and a videographer (VTR Image) which helped them stay inline with their vision of an intimate gathering, even with their vendors. The couple certainly achieved their dreams of having an Intimate Disney Wedding at Shades of Green Resort. The couple was even able to share the joy of their special day with their son and daughter.
I have known Caitlin and Chris for a few years now, and we see each other about once a year-always at our annual Super Bowl Party. Chris and Caitlin are Patriots fans, and we are Steeler fans, so I guess it is safe to say that it is was probably best that their wedding was on the Sunday prior to the game between our two teams! I totally may have had some hard feelings if the wedding was after the fact 😉 All kidding aside, Caitlin and Chris are such a fun, sweet couple. Keep reading to hear more about their love story!
Chris and Caitlin first met while in high school, but their love story really began a little while later in 2008, while they were both in their hometown pub. Chris was home on leave from the Army and after the two caught up on each other’s lives, Chris asked for her phone number. Shortly after, he went back to Savannah, GA where he was stationed but the couple continued to talk sporadically over the next few months. On one of their phone calls, Chris mentioned that he would be coming home again and on Caitlin’s birthday no less! Once he got home, the pair was inseparable and spent as much time together as possible. Once Chris had to leave again for deployment, their phone and emails became a constant back and forth. In December of 2009 Caitlin made the decision to move from their hometown of Nashua, NH to Ocoee, FL which just so happened to only be a 4 hour drive from where Chris was stationed. The second weekend after moving, the couple made it official. The date was January 15th, 2010 – 7 years later they were married.
Caitlin’s gown was a gorgeous cinched waist ballgown from Robyn Lynne Bridal & Formal Wear. It had intricately beaded straps and it complimented her figure perfectly. The flowing skirt was the perfect choice for an outdoor wedding at the Shades of Green resort. Doesn’t she just look stunning?
Chris popped the question to Caitlin in 2014 when they went home to visit friends and family. They went to “The Flumes” a beautiful hiking trail in NH through a natural gorge and at the base of a mountain, where they also went the first time they hung out. Unlike the first time they hung out, this time Chris got down on one knee and asked Caitlin to be his wife!
The couples son and daughter (pictured above) were able to be a big part of the ceremony. I love it when families all get to celebrate together and it made the vows even more special that the two kids got to be apart of them as well! The officiant, Kevin Knox, also helped make the vows (and entire ceremony) special by making sure everyone was smiling from his words and readings.
Chris and Caitlin, along with their florist Kissimmee Florist, chose to incorporate white magnolia flowers throughout their special day. They chose these particular flowers because it reminded them of Savannah, Georgia where they spent a lot of their time when they first started dating. I love the way they look simple and elegant without overpowering the bride and her maids. The way that Kissimmee Florist paired the big blooms with the greenery really made them pop! And how great was the floral arrangement above the ceremony space?
The couple added many personal details throughout the day to make it special and unique to them as a couple. One of my favorite touches that they added was Caitlin’s bouquet charm. Amanda Sapp of Smallprint Orlando took Caitlin’s grandparent’s fingerprints, and created a one-of-a-kind bouquet charm with them! It was such a special and unique touch that I just loved.
I always enjoy asking my couples why they made the decision to go with me as their photographer, and this couple was no exception! While we may have got our start cheering on apposing teams, the couple says that, “when we were looking for a photographer I thought of you right off the bat thanks to meeting you through mutual friends – I’ve always been a big fan of your work!” I am always honored to be a part of a couples day, and it made it even more special that we were all friends prior to the wedding.
The couple wanted their wedding to capture the simple elegance of Florida charm, and the venue Shades of Green fit the bill perfectly with the multitude of Palm trees and the relaxed atmosphere. Tami Seybert of Winter Park Wedding Design also helped make their vision a reality!
Chris and his four groomsmen all wore Navy Blue to match Chris’s Army dress. His two best men also stood proudly beside him in their dress uniforms as well! One is a Police Office and one is a Firefighter. All of them were a great time and they even decided to hoist Chris up like a champion at the end of the day, how fun!
The gorgeous gals all wore blush pink dresses each with a slightly unique style. It is always nice to allow the wedding party to pick their own style of dress so that they can feel comfortable and beautiful. And how special is it that the couples daughter was able to be apart of the bridal party! She is going to be stunning, just like her Mom!
After my departure from the beautiful day, the couple was able to keep on celebrating into the night with Entertainment by Weddings Only DJ Entertainment. And while I wasn’t there for the end of the party, I am sure this close-nit group of people had a great time! Chris and Caitlin, I wish you all the best as you start you new journey as a married couple! I can’t wait until the next time when we can catch a Patriots & Steelers game again!
